Bountiful Acre

Market Garden

Bountiful Acre is our one acre market garden, rooted in the village of Saxapahaw on the Haw River in Lower Alamance County. This small but mighty garden provides a small surplus that serves our community with nutrient dense, organically grown fruit and vegetables. We grow more than 150 species of native and naturalized perennials, maintain several bee colonies, and create and maintain habitat for a wide variety of native pollinators and other beneficial insects here.

In this market garden, we focus on:

  • Building holistic soil food web health,

  • Low-till, Biointensive, and permaculture methods,

  • Minimum 30% cover cropping at all times to reduce inputs and increase soil dynamism,

  • Capturing local organic waste streams and transforming waste into rich soil amendments via both thermophilic composting and vermicomposting (worm compost),

  • Creating a thriving and diverse garden in tune with our slopes, rocks, clay, and moisture

This year we are so delighted that April 2025 will be our fourth full season offering CSA shares, now with many more customizable options. Sign ups for our Spring 2025 CSA with the Haw River Producers Cooperative are open now! For more details and to sign up, head to Full Plate Farm.

Bountiful Acre is a founding member of the Haw River Producers Cooperative (HRPC) with Full Plate Farm in Snow Camp, NC, a producer owned and operated cooperative that adheres to the 7 ICA Cooperative Principles.

We also offer volunteer opportunities and part-time internships here in the garden.
